Mexico has nearly half a million cases and topping 52,000 deaths from COVID-19

The Mexican Ministry of Health reported this Saturday that COVID-19 has counted 475,902 accumulated cases so far, while the number of deaths caused by the disease is already 52,006.

The Mexican government’s director general of health promotion Ricardo Cortés Alcalá has said there have been 695 new deaths and 6,495 new cases in the past 24 hours, while 318,638 people managed to overcome the disease.

With these numbers, Mexico continues to be the second most hit country in Latin America after Brazil, the epicenter of the pandemic in the region that exceeded three million cases and 100,000 deaths this Saturday.

Alcalá has also reported that 42 percent of hospital beds in the country’s hospital network were already occupied, with the western state of Nayarit being the busiest at 76 percent.
