Mexico exceeds 33,000 deaths and recovers more than half of the people infected with COVID-19

The Mexican Department of Health reported the death of 33,526 people to COVID-19 this Thursday after 730 had been registered on the last day, despite the fact that 167,795 of the 282,283 accumulated cases managed to recover from the disease.

Among the accumulated cases, general director of epidemiology, José Luis Alomía, said there were 48,708 active cases, while another 336,373 were classified as suspects.

Alomia stressed that after the 26th week of the health emergency, the government had seen a slowdown in the pandemic.

With this in mind, the head of government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, has indicated that next week will be the key to clarifying the situation in the Mexican capital, which has served under the orange color of the epidemiological traffic light for two weeks.
