The Mexican health authorities reported this Friday that the country has exceeded 245,000 cases of coronavirus, which is why it has overtaken Italy in the number of people affected since the transalpine nation had 241,184.

Mexico has found 6,740 new positives in the last 24 hours, which have increased the country’s global balance to 245,251 infected. This makes the North American country the ninth largest country to date affected by the pandemic, according to the Johns Hopkins University table.

As for deaths, the 654 new deaths total 29,843 in Mexico as a result of COVID-19. In addition, Mexico’s Director General for Epidemiology, José Luis Alomía, highlighted that 147,205 people have managed to overcome the disease, 60 percent of all those affected since the pandemic started, the local newspaper El Universal reports. .
