Under-Secretary of State for Prevention and Health Promotion in Mexico, Hugo López-Gatell, warned this Monday that the coronavirus will be present “for several months, probably years” in the Latin American country that has exceeded the threshold of 300,000 cases of the disease.
In particular, Mexico has posted 304,435 positive results so far, according to the balance offered by health authorities, 4,685 more in the last 24 hours. In addition, the North American country has confirmed another 485 deaths, raising the global balance to 35,491.
“We will have COVID-19 for a few months, probably years. We are talking about two or three years in which it will always return with small, medium or large outbreaks,” said López-Gatell.
Therefore, he pointed out that it is “important” that citizens are aware that prevention “does not depend only on general government orders or the prohibition on occupying public spaces or carrying out activities”.
