Mexico is caught in a new wave of coronavirus infections caused by the penetration of the Omicron variant. However, the authorities have made it a priority to ensure that infection does not result in hospital admissions or death, celebrating the positive effects of vaccines.
The country’s president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, was one of thousands of Mexican citizens infected this week, despite the government’s efforts to ensure that the president’s health is “optimal” and that he can return to take up their functions personally on Monday true.
Regarding the variant that López Obrador was able to infect, Interior Minister Adán Augusto López has indicated that the authorities do not currently know this data, although he has estimated that it could be the Omicron variant.
