Mexico is already bordering on 440,000 cases of coronavirus after nearly 5,000 additional infections have been confirmed, according to the latest information from the country’s health authorities.
This Sunday, Mexico in particular found 4,853 new infections, bringing the worldwide number for the Latin American country to 439,046. The deaths from COVID-19, of which the 274 were found this Sunday, are now 47,746.
Similarly, director of epidemiology, José Luis Alomía, said that 289,394 people in Mexico have recovered from the disease, while 483,333 diagnostic tests have been negative overall, as reported by ‘El Sol de México’.
Mexico was the third country with the highest number of coronavirus deaths worldwide this Friday after surpassing the United Kingdom and the United States and Brazil.
Under-Secretary of State for Prevention and Health Promotion in Mexico, Hugo López-Gatell, updated the epidemiological traffic light – the color system that marks the progressive restoration of productive life – and reported that 16 units would remain in red and 16 in orange. None of the Mexican countries is green.
