Mexico and Argentina announce that they will manufacture a UK vaccine against COVID-19 for Latin America

August 13, 2020

Mexico and Argentina announced this Wednesday that they have signed an agreement with billionaire businessman Carlos Slim to manufacture a vaccine against COVID-19 developed by the UK pharmaceutical company Astra-Zeneca and Oxford University, which will be distributed throughout the region, except for Brazil.

The agreement provides for the creation of 150 to 250 million doses of a vaccine that, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), is already in the final stages of development.

The Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard sent the message through his Twitter account, thanking the “decisive support” of the creation of the Mexican businessman under this agreement, promoted by Mexican Presidents Andrés Manuel López Obrador and from Argentina Alberto Fernández.
