Methane leaks at least six dead in a mine in Kazakhstan

At least six miners have died in the Karaganda province of Kazakhstan from a methane gas leak, the Republican Ministry of Emergencies announced on Sunday.

“Six workers died and two were injured,” said the statement collected by the official Russian news agency Sputnik.

According to preliminary information, there were 64 miners in the mine, 56 of whom they have already left on their own.

More than 20 rescuers and three technical teams are on duty at the scene of the accident in order to search for possible further victims and to determine the exact circumstances of the escape.
