BERLIN, Dec. 13 (EUROPE PRESS) –
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has congratulated British Prime Minister Boris Johnson for his “resounding victory” in the parliamentary elections, thanks to which the Conservative Party will enjoy an absolute majority in the House of Commons next term ” .
“Congratulations, Boris Johnson, on your resounding victory. I look forward to working for friendship and strong cooperation between our two nations,” said Merkel, in a message posted on Twitter by his spokesman, Steffen Seibert.
The comfortable triumph of the 'tories' will foreseeably facilitate Johnson to move forward with the Withdrawal Agreement to consummate the United Kingdom's exit from the EU on January 31. Once the break is achieved, the parties will begin to negotiate the future relationship between the two.
