The Hamburg giant has made a step forward on the path to recycling. As the fast food chain is responsible for a lot of waste, it listened to its consumers in Austria and started a range of swimsuits made from recycled straws.

The idea came up when they exchanged all straws for paper straws in this country, but what to do with all the old plastic straws? Swimsuits with the colors that characterize the brand!

According to the company’s Instagram in Austria, lThe range of swimsuits includes a complete one for women and shorts for men. They are two parts made from recycled fabric and plastic straws that are extracted from the sea.

The garments were designed by the Viennese company Poleit and the idea was developed by Virtue (owned by Vice). This is to raise awareness and that every sector can make its contribution to mitigating climate change.

“We are excited about our unique collection of sustainable swimwear made from recycled materials,” said McDonald’s Austria Marketing Director.

Although these were only created for the awareness campaign, the company decided to auction them on its site. However, there are no details yet on how it will be carried out or where the proceeds will go.
