Mark Cuban took to Twitter to share his thoughts on Bitcoin after Elon Musk dropped the cryptocurrency’s shares after announcing that Tesla would no longer accept the coin as a payment option.
Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, said that despite Musk’s opinion, the Mavs would continue to accept Bitcoin (as well as other cryptocurrencies, Ether and Dogecoin) as payment.
We at https://t.co/VUydpLFzGh continue to accept BTC / Eth / Doge as we know that replacing gold as a store of value helps the environment https://t.co/bs7NvnJY8A and https: // t .co / ELhbuLOBRV The decline in the consumption of big banks and coins will benefit society and the environment. https://t.co/zu08F0STEQ

“We know that replacing gold as a store of value helps the environment,” wrote the Cuban. “And reducing the use of big banks and currencies will benefit society and the environment.”
Cuban linked to two separate articles examining bitcoin mining energy use and its need and renewal.
Twitter users were less than enthusiastic about Kuban’s comment. A tweeter even described the billionaire’s statement as “nonsensical”.
Cubans are you serious about this tweet?

Who Really Uses Crypto To Buy Mavs Tickets Or Goods? It’s a cute gimmick, but how many people actually use it?

The more obvious observation here is that he’s not saying that BTC / crypto as a technology is the problem
The problem is the way in which electricity is generated to run the grids
If anything, crypto’s energy needs should drive innovation
Perhaps that is Elon’s real goal here

You’re missing the point here. This is a game about influencing the use of clean energy. When others take a stand, progress can come sooner. Use your powers forever. The long-term game away from gold can still happen.
