Manila returns to detention after registering more than 6,000 daily cases in the Philippines

The Philippine capital of Manila has returned to its 27 million inhabitants strictly this Tuesday due to the increasing spread of coronaviruses across the country, which has caused more than 6,000 new cases in the past few hours.

The Department of Health has reported that 6,352 new cases have been registered in the last 24 hours, almost half of them in the Manila metropolitan area (3,139), for a total of 112,593 infected.

The Philippine authorities have detailed that out of a total of 2,115 people died – 11 of them on the last day – while 66,049 have recovered, 240 of them in the past few hours.

In this context, the government of Rodrigo Duterte has decided to restrict Manila, where some restrictions still exist, and the neighboring provinces of Rizal, Cavite, Laguna and Bulacán for the next 15 days.
