August 3, 2020

The City of Manchester announced this Sunday its decision to declare the status of a “serious incident” on the territory with the aim of maximizing the resources intended to fight the coronavirus.

The decision comes days after the British government banned social gatherings in homes in Manchester and other northern parts of the country, arguing that the authorities have found an “increase in the transmission rate” of COVID-19.

In a statement, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority stated that the measure “simply consists in giving our public bodies the fastest and most efficient access to the additional resources they need”.
