Polish security forces arrested a man on Monday for allegedly spying for the Russian government.
The spokesman for the minister responsible for coordinating the country’s secret services, Sanislav Zarin, has confirmed the information. “The Internal Security Agency has arrested a Polish citizen who works with the Russian secret services,” he said on his Twitter account.
It thus indicated that the detainee in question had confessed to the crimes charged against him. According to the Polish Public Prosecutor’s Office, “internal security agency officials arrested Marcin K.” who was suspected of having carried out “activities for the benefit of foreign intelligence agencies”.
In this regard, the authorities have stated that the defendant, who had been detained for three months at the request of the prosecutor, could be sentenced to up to ten years in prison.
