The Maltese authorities announced Monday that a group of 95 migrants were rescued while traveling in the Mediterranean after their boat drifted, adding that they would be taken to a country port.
Government sources, quoted by the local newspaper The Times of Malta, have stated that migrants went to the island and were rescued by the armed forces after being in a “dangerous situation”, as reported by the NGO Alarm Phone .
The above-mentioned NGO denounced that the boat was floating on Sunday and criticized during the day that “more than 30 hours had passed without help from Malta”. “We strongly condemn these systematic delays,” he said via his account on the social network Twitter.
In addition, the Italian authorities kidnapped 45 other migrants on another floating ship late Sunday.
