Mali’s military junta is postponing their first meeting to allow a transfer of power after the coup
The military responsible for Mali has announced that it will postpone the first consultation meeting with political and civil organizations on a future transfer of power after the coup planned for this Saturday for organizational reasons.
The junta had invited signatories of rebel groups to a peace agreement and civil society organizations to develop a colloquium “on organizing the transition” of powers in the country this morning in the capital Bamako.
In the end, however, the military announced that this meeting would be postponed “to a later date”, citing “organizational reasons”.

The transition negotiations are extremely complex. Opposition leader and Imam Mahmud Dicko, a key figure in the protests that started the final process of military pronouncement, calls for a key role in these talks.
