Maduro will be sending a letter to Felipe VI asking for forgiveness for the “genocide” in America

The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, has announced a letter to King Felipe VI “And ask your pardon.

“Every time Spain goes out to party and dance on October 12th, it hurts historical memory,” Maduro said during a public ceremony in which he asserted America’s indigenous past. With that in mind, it has regretted that Spain did not choose another “glorious day” to commemorate its national holiday, on which it “could have chosen any date in its long history”.

The Venezuelan President thinks it is high time Spain assumed that there was “300 years of colonialism and crimes against humanity,” and hopes that the king, “a man of the 21st, will finish Francisco.

Previously, in a series of messages posted on Twitter, he had attacked “the Spanish Empire” which “murdered, exiled and enslaved millions of indigenous people more than 500 years ago,” stressing that “Spain correct and “All of America.”

Maduro will bring it up with a letter to the king, which he would like to announce “in the next few hours”, as previously done by Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, who also wrote a letter to the Spanish monarch. He will write “with respect, always with respect,” he added.

He will also send a second letter to the Presidency of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) to propose the establishment of a “Truth Commission” to investigate the colonial era.
