The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, has ratified the General Secretary Vladimir Padrino López, who has been responsible for the portfolio for six years, as Minister of Defense and has announced several changes in the decision-making positions of the Force Corps Bolivarian National Navy (FANB).
The new appointments took place this Tuesday at the Bolivarian Military University of Venezuela in Caracas during an event where President Maduro presented the promotion of 1,083 lieutenants to FANB officers, the Venezuelan news agency reports.
The confirmation of Godfather López, on the other hand, was accompanied by the rejection by the National Assembly, which on Tuesday condemned the last words of the defense minister, who affirmed that the opposition was a “faction of thugs and politicians”. Venezuela will not be able to rule “ever in life”.
“As long as there is a force like today that is anti-imperialist, revolutionary and Bolivarian, they will never be able to exercise political power in Venezuela,” he said a few days ago during the events celebrating Independence Day.
