Maduro compares Trump’s “lies” to those that justified the attacks on Vietnam and Iraq

The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, has denounced the “lies” of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, and his government about Venezuela and has compared these attacks to those before US military interventions in Vietnam or Iraq.

“Today there was an election campaign in the South Florida Command and false accusations against Venezuela and the honor of our institutions. Donald Trump is desperate for the votes and goes to the South Command to conduct an election campaign.” Maduro declared this Friday during an act at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense for Human Rights in Caracas.

Maduro therefore referred to the words of US Secretary of Security Robert O’Brien, who said Venezuela was “a narcotic state run by a corrupt and illegitimate regime”. Trump himself promised to end “socialism” in Venezuela, Cuba and the United States.
