Macron and Merkel are calling for the EU border to be strengthened, asylum to be tightened and Schengen to be checked for terrorism

Several European Union heads of state and government, including French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, on Tuesday appealed for the need for a “swift and coordinated” EU response to the terrorist threat. The efforts they advocated should pay off focus on strengthening the external border, tightening asylum conditions and reviewing the rules of the borderless Schengen area.
