Lukashenko assures that he will not give in to the pressure and rules out the repeat of the elections in Belarus

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stressed this Monday that he would not give in to pressure to resign and ruled out the rerun of the presidential elections after those held on August 9, during which he received a sixth term from the Opposition rejected.

“They will never make me do anything because they put me under pressure,” said the veteran president during a visit to the Minsk Tractor Plant (MZKT, which is acronym in Belarusian), the state news agency BelTa reported.

The elections “will not be held,” he emphasized and warned that if they were carried out, not only would the factory no longer exist, but “in half a year we would destroy everything,” said the Russian news agency Sputnik.

“This constitution cannot be handed over to anyone because we would have problems,” emphasized Lukashenko, who nevertheless showed himself ready to share the president’s power, “but not under pressure” or because of street protests.
