June 5, 2020

The Mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti, has decided to lift the curfew for the California city as part of protests in the United States against the death of African-American citizen George Floyd, while the marches continue peacefully on various points of the North American country.

“We continue to work hard to protect the rights of Los Angeles citizens, to be heard and to ensure the security of our community,” said Garcetti, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.

Garcetti made his decision to lift the curfew for four nights on Wednesday. On the same day, the measure came into effect at 9:00 p.m. (local time) instead of 6:00 p.m., reflecting the calm of the protests and good police surveillance, he said.
