The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, started his first official visit to the United States this Wednesday with flower offerings for the monuments of Abraham Lincoln and Benito Juárez, although the main course will arrive in the next few hours with his meeting with Donald Trump in the White House.
López Obrador landed a commercial flight at Washington International Airport on Tuesday evening, where he was received by the Mexican authorities in the United States and the State Department.
His official agenda began on Wednesday with flower offers for the Lincoln and Juárez monuments. Mexican residents in the United States have tried to show him both their support and their rejection with banners and proclamations, according to the Mexican newspaper El Universal.
He is scheduled to meet with his American counterpart in the White House at 2:00 p.m. (8:00 p.m. Spanish time). After that, Trump López Obrador will offer an honor meal.
