The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, on Sunday encouraged the “conservative” opposition to take part in the demonstrations that had occupied the center of the capital in recent days, otherwise they would feel “even frustrated”.
“Now those who have long benefited from it are protesting and they believe that these times of abuse and corruption will return. So I’m glad if the Conservatives didn’t protest, I would even be frustrated,” the Mexican president said during an event in the state of Morelos.
“Things are changing and the proof is the protests of those who have committed themselves to looting in order to keep what belongs to everyone,” said López Obrador, who has given his “conservative opponents” all the constitutional guarantees to do so can freely demonstrate against their government.
“Now that there’s a sit-in in central Mexico City, you need to know that you have all the guarantees to demonstrate, you won’t be bothered, you will be able to stay in your tents, I hope you stay long enough.” has assured.
