Lithuania announces a new de-escalation with the reopening of schools and air and sea transport

The Lithuanian government announced on Wednesday that a new phase of de-escalation will begin on May 18, in which schools and sports clubs will reopen, meetings of up to 30 people may take place outdoors, and it will include air and sea transport reopen.

This is the second phase of easing restrictions to fight the Covid-19 pandemic after the government allowed small shops, libraries and cafes to reopen in mid-April.

Lithuania, still in a state of emergency and implementing measures such as the mandatory use of face masks in public spaces, has so far registered 1,428 Covid-19 infections and 48 deaths in a country that does not reach three million people.

This new phase of de-escalation begins on May 18 and provides for the reopening of the above-mentioned sectors, as well as hairdressing and beauty centers, dental clinics and the possibility of holding outdoor meetings with up to 30 people, however, the regulations are followed by mandatory social distance measures.
