The Lisbon and Tajo Valley regions concentrate 206 of the 227 new cases of coronavirus discovered in Portugal in the past 24 hours. This is the outcome of the latest bulletin from the Directorate General for Health of the Portuguese government.
The bulletin also contains five deaths for a total of 1,517 deaths. Also noteworthy is the decrease in hospital admissions from 428 on Saturday to 419 on Sunday, while 73 patients are treated in the intensive care unit, four fewer than the previous day.
The northern region has been hardest hit since the epidemic in Portugal, with 17,078 cases and 812 deaths worldwide, reports the Portuguese news agency Lusa. The center continues with 3,874 confirmed cases, Algarve (395) and Alentejo (282).
Minister of Health António Lacerda Sales said at the daily coronavirus press conference that the psychological line of public health has participated in “nearly 16,000 calls” since the epidemic began, including 1,500 from health care professionals.
