Lasso receives first dose of Pfizer coronavirus vaccine

The President of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso, received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine from Pfizer this Friday and called on the population to participate in the Ecuadorian vaccination process.

Lasso, 65, went to the University of Guayaquil with his wife, María de Lourdes Alcívar, for that first dose.

“If they give us the doses that arrive in July or August, we will vaccinate six million Ecuadorians,” the president said on the subject of vaccine purchase.

Specifically, he referred to the contract to acquire this quantity of cans from the Chinese company CanSino. He also added that the purchase of three million doses of the Sinovac immunizer has already been agreed.

“I invite you to get vaccinated and to be part of the vaccination schedule. If more people are vaccinated, we can reactivate Ecuador and regain wellbeing, ”he later wrote on his Twitter profile.
