The government of Mexico City and Model group announced their collaboration to enable La Pastora General Hospital in Cuautepec, Gustavo A. Madero, to care for patients with Coronavirus (COVID-19), which will have 100 beds.
The Prime Minister Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo thanked Grupo Modelo for their participation, as this company will be responsible for the investment in the hospital facilities and is expected to be ready by the end of February.
“We are talking about an additional investment of around 250 million Pesos, in which a very important part of Grupo Modelo will be invested, but of course the details of how much should be invested, because we will of course report this.”
“Right now there is this private investment that without Modelo’s investment, we would not have the options or the resources to start it. That is why Grupo Modelo’s investment is so important. You will be investing in all the connections for medical gases, oxygen and everything a hospital facility needs, ”he said.
The President of Grupo Modelo, Cassiano De Stefano, indicated that only through a concerted effort between the authorities, the private sector and citizens will it be possible to stay one step ahead of the health emergency caused by COVID-19.
“Today we have to reunite with the city government. We acknowledge the great efforts that the Prime Minister and her administration made during the pandemic to ensure the health and safety of all of us who live here. We are sure that with the project announced today we will help improve our city’s hospital capacity at a time when it is most needed, ”he said.
This action is part of the joint strategies for coping with the health emergency and the #PorNuestroMéxico movement of the Grupo Modelo, which tried to prevent the spread of COVID-19 through various actions during the months of the pandemic.
“This is our house, we were born here. They are all our neighbors, and neighbors support one another, protect one another, unite. For this reason, we have been looking for the best way to help our city since the beginning of the pandemic, ”emphasized De Stefano.
The local president said that the Institute of Health for Welfare (INSABI) will contribute to the equipment of the hospital, while the recruitment of doctors will be a joint effort between the government of Mexico City and INSABI.
“The mayor’s office is building elevators and some other drainage connections, as well as the minister of labor for the paving and connection to drinking water along with the Mexico City water system. It’s a joint effort, ”he said.
Sheinbaum Pardo indicated that the new hospital will be primarily dedicated to the treatment of the health emergency; However, once it is ready, your attention will be directed to a general hospital for the entire area of Cuautepec, benefiting 150,000 low-income residents and in which your administration has invested in Line 1 of the Cablebús for Six Points for Innovation, Freedom, Art , Education and Knowledge (PILLARS) and in drinking water works.
The unit will be equipped with a breathing stretcher, stabilization areas, medical services and hospitalization with a capacity of 100 beds, of which about 25 or 30 will be intensive therapy.
The Secretary for Works and Services, Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, explained that the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) is currently installing the electrical connection in La Pastora General Hospital.
