Italy registered 25,673 new cases of coronavirus this Thursday while health officials suspended the use of a batch of AstraZeneca after several countries recorded adverse events following its use.
Health officials have also reported 373 deaths, bringing the total to 101,184 deaths, while the number of positive deaths has risen to 3,149,017.
According to La Repubblica newspaper, 23,247 people are being hospitalized for the disease, 266 of whom are in intensive care, 32 more than yesterday.
After reporting the suspension of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine in Denmark due to the possibility of causing blood clots, Italy decided to follow the example of the Scandinavian country with a specific batch as two suspected cases are similar to the Danish.
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has ruled out any association between the vaccine and these episodes. However, the vials in which it is transported will be checked for contamination.
Likewise, the case of a military man who died shortly after receiving the vaccination was resolved and, according to the Adnkronos agency, shows no connection with the use of the vaccine.
