The Italian health authorities have confirmed 629 new cases of coronavirus in the country in the past 24 hours, the highest number of new infections since May 23 and more than the 574 recorded this Friday.
The total number of cases is already 253,438, while there have been another four new deaths. However, the total death toll rises to 35,392 as the Emilia Romagna region has recorded 154 coronavirus deaths, which occurred between March, April and May and which have not yet been taken into account, according to an internal review of its data.
A total of 14,406 people are still listed as active cases, i.e. with no registration and no deaths. A total of 55 patients are in the intensive care unit, and the number of discharges is 203,640, according to civil defense.
The largest cases occurred in the regions of Veneto, Lombardy and Emilia Romagna with 120, 94 and 71 new cases, respectively.
