Italian authorities reported this Monday that there had been another 259 cases of coronavirus on the last day, a decrease compared to the daily infections registered in the country, although hospital admissions have risen again.
In total, and since the beginning of the pandemic, the country has verified 250,825 COVID-19 infections and 35,209 deaths, four of them on the last day, according to the balance declared by Civil Defense. Active cases are now 13,368.
The number of cases has fallen after a further 450 cases were recorded on Sunday and 347 cases on Saturday, according to the local newspaper ‘Corriere della Sera’.
In terms of number of hospitalizations, 779 people have now been admitted with symptoms, 46 of whom are in intensive care units, a number that has increased over the past week. Another 202,248 have recovered from the disease.
The Lombardy region remains hardest hit with 96,886 confirmed cases, 31 more than on Sunday, followed by Piedmont with 31,888; Emilia-Romagna with 30,160; and Veneto with a further 20,676 infections. Emilia-Romaña is the one with the most daily cases since Sunday, with another 39.
