Italy is running a record nearly 100,000 COVID-19 tests in one day due to the continued rise in infections

Italian health officials reported this Friday that they managed to run a record 97,065 COVID-19 tests in a single day, given the continued surge in infections, which has risen to 265,409 since the pandemic began.

According to the latest civil protection record, there were an additional 1,462 cases and nine deaths due to the pandemic on the last day. A total of 35,472 deaths have been recorded since last March.

The government has warned that the number of patients admitted to intensive care units is increasing, where there are now 74, seven more than on Thursday. However, another 348 have managed to overcome the disease caused by the virus, making the recovered 206,902.

On the same Friday, the Italian government started distributing new tables to Italian schools that comply with the security regulations of the coronavirus.
