The Italian government announced 255 new infections and five deaths this Sunday, a certain decrease compared to the 275 cases on Saturday in a day without new infections in five regions of the country: Umbria, Sardinia, Calabria, Aosta Valley and Basilicata No deaths in the most affected Region, Lombardy.
The total number of infections is 246,118 and the deceased according to the civil protection balance sheet now 35,107. The number of current cases where layoffs and deaths are not taken into account is 12,565 people (123 more than yesterday), of whom 44 are in intensive care.
According to the balance, a total of 198,446 people were released.
The day was particularly positive in Lombardy, whose health chief Giulio Gallera reported that this Sunday is the third day in a row without deaths in the region.
“Today, the number of patients admitted to our hospital wards has continued to decline and the number of people in the intensive care unit remains unchanged,” he said on his Twitter account.
However, Lombardy remains the most affected region with 95,921 infections and 16,801 deaths, followed by Piedmont (31,606 cases, 4,126 deaths) and Emilia-Romagna (29,522 cases, 4,285 deaths).
