Italy continues without reducing deaths, but plans to approve travel between regions on June 3

Italy has failed to reduce the daily death toll after adding another 246 deaths in the past 24 hours, while recovered patient data continues to grow and nearly 5,000 more were recorded on the last day.

According to data released by Civil Protection on Friday, a total of 223,885 cases were confirmed in Italy due to the pandemic, another 789 on the last day, while the deceased rose to 31,610. The number of people who passed COVID-19 is already 120,205 after another 4,917 were released on the last day.

In the meantime, the number of hospital patients continues to decrease, 661 fewer to a total of 10,792, while 808 patients are currently being admitted to the intensive care unit, 47 fewer than on Thursday. The remaining 60,470 patients are isolated at home.

The Italian government is discussing a new legislative decree this Friday, expected to be adopted before the end of the day, to further relax restrictive measures to curb the spread of the pandemic.
