The Italian government has confirmed a total of 355 new cases of coronavirus across the country this Sunday, 61 fewer than on Saturday and a 75 percent decrease in daily deaths from 111 in the previous Civil Defense balance.
Taking these numbers into account, the total number of deaths is 33,415 and the total number of cases is 233,019. The current number of active cases, ie discounting of deceased and salvaged cases, is 42,075. The number of people who have recovered so far is now 157,507.
A total of 6,387 people with coronavirus symptoms are hospitalized (293 fewer than yesterday), of whom 435 are in intensive care (15 fewer than on Saturday). A total of 35,253 people are under house arrest (1,308 fewer than on Saturday).
By region, Lombardy remains the worst affected, registering 210 new cases with total infections increasing to 88,968 and deaths to 16,112. Piedmont follows with 54 new cases, 30,637 total cases and 3,867 deaths; and Emilia-Romagna, which registered 31 new cases, 27,790 infections and a total of 4,114 deaths.
