The Italian government has confirmed another 231 new cases of coronavirus and eight more deaths in the past few hours, all in Lombardy, this Sunday.
According to the civil protection balance sheet, the country has already registered 248,070 cases and 35,154 deaths. Of the cases, 12,456 are active in the intensive care unit – without taking redundancies and deaths into account – and 42 are in critical condition.
The number of newly affected is slightly lower than the 295 registered on Saturday, but the deceased exceeded five the previous day.
In the discharge chapter, a total of 200,460 people recovered from the disease, which remains the most affected region in Lombardy (96,312 cases, 16,815 deaths), followed by Piedmont and Emilia-Romagna.
