Coronavirus infections have increased slightly in Italy and 1,370 more positive cases have been confirmed in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health, which has recorded 280,153 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic started on Tuesday.
The official balance, which includes cases in all regions of Italy, includes ten more deaths, a total of 35,563, while 143 patients remain in intensive care units. Authorities estimate there are 33,789 active cases.
One of the patients whose diagnosis is being closely followed is former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who, according to a report published on Tuesday by his doctor Alberto Zangrillo, confirmed on Sunday that the chairman of Forza Italia was in a “delicate phase”.
Berlusconi, who turns 84 this month, tested positive on his return from a trip to Sardinia and was hospitalized in Milan. Besides him, other people around him have also tested positive, including his girlfriend and some of his children.
