Italy can’t reduce coronavirus deaths, adding another 71 on the last day

June 3, 2020

Italy continues to reduce the daily number of coronavirus-related deaths after adding another 71 in the past 24 hours, although data has remained below a hundred in the past few days, such as the pandemic in March earlier this year.

According to civil defense, 71 more deaths were added on the last day, more than 55 on Tuesday and less than 178 on Monday, when there was a slight upswing after the weekend after the weekend. There would have been 75 deaths on Sunday. The pandemic leaves a total of 33,601 deaths.

On the other hand, a further 321 new cases were registered, which corresponds to a total of 233,836 infections. Of these, 39,297 are still active, 596 fewer than the day before. Those admitted to the intensive care unit also fell, 353 (55 fewer), and those admitted to the hospital 5,742 (174 less). In addition, a further 846 patients were discharged, so that 160,938 people in Italy had already passed COVID-19.

For his part, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte emphasized that “the trend towards newly diagnosed cases is steadily declining in all regions”, which “shows that the strategy that has been gradually pursued over the past few weeks has been the fair.”
