Italy is the third country after the U.S. and Spain to break the barrier of 200,000 coronavirus infections, and has recorded another 382 deaths in the past 24 hours, a number slightly higher than the data released by Civil Protection the previous day.
Overall, the country has registered 201,505 cases of the new coronavirus since the pandemic started, after 2,091 infections occurred on the last day, while the number of deaths rose to 27,359 after more than 382 deaths on the last day.
In the meantime, the pressure on the healthcare system continues to decrease, as in the past few days. There are currently 19,723 hospital patients, 630 fewer than on Monday, while the ICU patients are 1,863, 93 fewer. The rest of the more than 105,000 active positive cases – 608 fewer than on Monday – are found in their homes asymptomatic or with mild symptoms.
A further 2,317 were discharged from the cured patients, which corresponds to a total of 68,941. This is a significant increase from the 1,696 recorded the previous day.
