Italy has reported another 269 deaths this Friday as hospital numbers continue to decline and the number of patients cured continues to increase after registering more than 207,000 infections with the new coronavirus, according to the latest data released by civil defense.
Another 269 people died on the last day, representing 28,236 deaths, while the total number of infections is now 207,428. This makes Italy the third country by number of cases and the first in the number of deceased.
After nearly 4,700 patients were cured on Thursday, another 2,349 were added on Friday, bringing the total to 78,294 since the pandemic started. The number of active cases is 100,943, 608 fewer than on the previous day.
The data for hospital patients also continue to decline. Currently, 17,569 people with Covid-19 have been hospitalized, 580 fewer in the last 24 hours, while those in intensive care have dropped by 116 to 1,578.
