Italy has recorded another 47 deaths and 251 new cases on the last day, while COVID-19 infections appear to have increased in the Lazio region, where Rome is located and where an outbreak was found in a hospital last week.
According to civil protection, there have been 238,011 infections and 34,561 deaths since the pandemic started. So far, 181,907 people have overcome the disease, 1,363 more on the last day.
The number of patients in the intensive care unit, which had increased for the first time since the beginning of April yesterday, has dropped to 161, seven fewer than on Thursday. In addition, 2,632 people with symptoms were hospitalized, another 235 fewer, while 87 percent of active cases are at home.
On the other hand, according to data from the Higher Institute of Health (ISS) and the Department of Health, although the so-called “R rate” remains below 0 at the national level – one patient infects less than one person – – in the case of Lazio, the region lies , in which Rome is located, currently at 1.12.
