Italy on Tuesday recorded another 412 cases of coronavirus and six deaths in the past 24 hours, which means an increase in daily infections as well as the number of hospital stays.
According to the most recent assessment of the civil protection, there have been a total of 251,237 cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic, of which 202,461 have been able to recover from the disease, 213 of them since Monday.
In addition, 35,215 people have died and, according to the Corriere della Sera newspaper, there are currently 13,561 active cases. Health officials have warned there is an increase in hospital patients who are already 801 – up from 779 on Monday.
49 of the hospitalized patients are admitted to intensive care units in hospitals. On Monday, 46 people were in the intensive care unit due to coronavirus.
The Lombardy region remains the hardest hit with 96,952 confirmed cases, 68 more than Monday, followed by Piedmont with 31,914, 26 more than yesterday; Emilia-Romaña, with 30,179, 19 others; and Veneto with another 20,741 infections with another 65.
