Israeli forces arrest the Palestinian governor of Jerusalem

The Israeli security forces arrested the Palestinian governor of Jerusalem, Adnan Gheith, on Sunday after an attack on his town house.

The Israeli troops broke into his home in the Silwan district of Jerusalem and ransacked the property before taking it away.

The reason for the arrest is currently unknown, but Geith has been arrested at least 17 times since he was appointed governor of Jerusalem by the Palestinian Authority in August 2018.

Meanwhile, the Association of Palestinian Prisoners on Sunday reminded that three prisoners are currently on hunger strike in Israeli prisons, two of them to protest the so-called “administrative detention” that allows indefinite detention without trial or press charges.
