Israel thwarts alleged cyberattacks involving a group of North Korean “hackers”

The Israel Defense Ministry reported Wednesday that it had foiled an alleged cyberattack on its facilities allegedly linked to a group of North Korean “hackers”.

In a statement, the Israeli authorities stated that the attack would consist of several false job vacancies that would act as bait for access to defense databases.

The attack in question would have been carried out by the Lazaus group, although it would have been foiled and “highly sensitive information” would not have been disclosed according to the newspaper “The Times of Israel”.

“The members of the group used various techniques, including creating fake LinkedIn profiles,” said the ministry, which ensures that the “attackers impersonate high-ranking officials from corporations and multinationals.”
