The new corona virus pandemic, which has its origins in the Chinese city of Wuhan, has left 1,758 new cases in Israel in the past 24 hours. This is a new daily record and brings the total number to over 44,000 infected the Israeli Ministry of Health.
If the numbers continue to rise, the government could issue a new sentence in the coming days to try to stop the spread of the corona virus. With the new data, the remaining amount is 44,563 infected in Israel, of which 20,068 have already recovered and have been released. More than 200 patients are seriously ill and the death toll is 377.
In mid-May, double-digit cases were found in Israel, but after the restrictions were lifted, the numbers have increased significantly since the end of this month. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was praised for his management in the first phase of the pandemic, is increasingly criticized for this second wave of infections.
On Wednesday evening, Netanyahu announced the payment of aid to all citizens of Israel to alleviate the financial crisis caused by the pandemic. The payment is still subject to government and parliament approval.
Critics of Netanyahu have condemned the payment of this aid as an attempt to quell protests against the Prime Minister over his response to the health crisis. A week ago, Netanyahu presented a € 20 billion aid package to reduce financial pressure on the pandemic.
