The Israeli authorities announced on Monday the arrest of an Israeli citizen who was preparing a bomb attack on the orders of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas). Nine other people were arrested in the operation, including several of their relatives.
The Shin Bet has stated that suspect Mahmud Makdad, a resident of the Bedouin town of Segev Shalom (south), was arrested on August 15 before adding that the rest of the inmates would be aware of his plans to attack a bus stop .
The man, married to a Palestinian woman who lives in the Gaza Strip, had permission to enter and leave the enclave, which would have made his contacts with Hamas possible, according to the Israeli newspaper “The Times of Israel”.
“This is new evidence of the efforts that the Hamas military division is making, as part of its systematic and extensive activities against Judea and Samaria (biblical name for the West Bank) and Israel, to build a terrorist infrastructure in Israel,” the organism said .
