The Israeli authorities have confirmed a cyber attack on the country’s water facilities, although the Israeli water authority has indicated that the infrastructure has not been damaged.
The agency specified that the affected facilities are located in Alta Galilea and in the center of the country, adding that “they were repaired immediately and independently of the local authorities”.
“It did no harm to the service and had no real impact,” the Israeli daily ‘Yedioth Ahronoth’ said in a statement. The authorities still have to comment on who is possibly behind the cyber attack.
The head of the Israeli cybersecurity apparatus, Yigal Unna, announced in May that the authorities had dismantled a large-scale “synchronized” cyber attack against the water distribution system in April and warned that “the cyber winter is coming”.
