Israeli aviation bombed Hamas positions in Gaza overnight in response to incendiary missiles being fired from that Palestinian enclave for the seventh consecutive year, the Israeli army reported.
“Israeli army fighters and planes attacked the underground infrastructure of the Hamas terrorist organization in the Gaza Strip,” the military spokesman said in a statement.
The attack, which occurred in the early hours of the morning, was in response to fire balloons being launched from Gaza during the day on Monday. According to the Israeli press, there were around twenty fires in the border area, including one near an empty daycare center in Sderot.
According to the Palestinian agency WAFA, the attacks have targeted agricultural land near Gaza Airport, east of Rafah and north of the city of Beit Lahia, without causing any loss but material damage. In addition, according to this medium, the Israeli Navy has launched several missiles into the sea on the coast off the north of the enclave.
