Israeli forces bombed several targets allegedly linked to the Hamas movement early Wednesday in response to the incendiary balloon attacks fired from the Gaza Strip in recent days.
A military spokesman for Israel has assured that the bombings targeted a military complex, underground infrastructure and several observation posts. According to The Jerusalem Post, one of the rockets fired would have landed on the Israeli side without actually exploding.
Sources cited by the Palestinian agency WAFA have assured that the bombings in the strip caused only material damage. According to witnesses quoted by the DPA news agency, young Palestinians launched new fire balloons against the southern part of Israel at the same time as the Israeli operations.
The Israeli army has reiterated that it considers any “terrorist activity against Israeli territory” to be “very serious” and will therefore do “whatever is necessary”. “The terrorist organization Hamas is responsible for what happens inside and outside the Gaza Strip,” he warned.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned on Wednesday that “there will be a very high price to pay for balloon terrorism,” which has been attributed to several fires in the past few days.
