August 12, 2020

Angolan businesswoman Isabel dos Santos, daughter of former Angolan President José Eduardo dos Santos, has announced that she is stepping down from the board of directors of Unitel, the country’s main telephone company, in connection with allegations of corruption against her.

“After 20 years dedicated to the creation, development and success of Unitel, I have decided to leave the position of member of the company’s Board of Directors,” Dos Santos said in a statement published by the newspaper ‘Jornal de Angola ‘.

He has therefore argued that the body “must be occupied by committed people with team spirit who are committed to rigorous and productive work in the interests of the company and its employees and customers”.
